Lindsay Cortner

Lindsay Cortner

began her ballet and contemporary training with Carolyn Gulledge and Beth Gulledge-Brown at Carol Ehler Dance School at the age of 13, and she continued to train with them throughout high school at Uptown Dance Centre. She gained performance experience with the school's second company until 2002, when she moved to New York to study in the Fordham/Ailey BFA program. There, Lindsay trained under Ana Marie Forsythe, Tracey Inman, and Milton Meyers, and performed works by Karen Arceneaux and Sidra Bell. After moving back to Houston, she joined the Uptown Dance Centre faculty, teaching Horton technique and creative movement. She also became a member of Uptown's professional company in its seminal year, and remained with Uptown until 2016. Lindsay also worked with Sandra Organ in her company EVSODC from 2010 to 2011. Lindsay graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas in 2013. She completed the Foundation and Advanced Forrest Yoga Teacher Trainings in 2013 and 2015, respectively, and she now teaches as a Level 2 Certified Forrest Yoga Instructor. Lindsay will begin dancing with Psophonia in the fall, and she is excited to be part of the Hope Stone faculty as a creative movement teacher at Browning Elementary School.
